The Stone series is a new and ongoing body of work which is very different from my other efforts over the last few years. These images are intended to lift common objects, river stones, to a different and perhaps more charged status by presenting them as sculptural artworks.
I have worked with photographing fabric with applied motion for a long time, and love the sense of fluidity and motion conveyed by those combined elements. With this new investigation, I have simplified the process by using only one piece of fabric and photographingit against a neutral background, which allows the single piece of material to create the entire image, thus creating photographs which are simultaneously simple and complex, a contradiction I very much enjoy.
Series Eleven began as an exploration of a very minimal type of imagery consisting of thin vertical lines reaching up through the visual frame from bottom to top, much like a very spare color field painting, but soon became increasingly active images with more lines, colors, density and motion. I see these pictures as rather quiet and meditative in nature, and as such are quite different from much of my other imagery.
All of the images are printed 13 x 19 inches on very high quality Hahnemuehle fine arts digital papers. Other sizes are available upon request, and all images are rights managed.
The tools of digital photography now offer such precision that it becomes an understandable temptation to completely control every aspect of picture making. Series Ten, produced during 2016, challenges the dominance of control and precision and instead encourages the creative friction of multiple overlapping elements to occur. With these images I initially select materials based on color and texture, add motion and then photograph intuitively as a session of semi-controlled chaos unfolds in front of the camera.
The images are printed 19” x 13” (though other sizes are available upon request) on Hahnemuehle fine arts papers, and all images are rights managed.
The Paper images are from an ongoing series of photographs which utilize only manipulated sheets of paper and studio lighting in their production. The images are individually printed 13 x 19" on fine art paper in a limited edition of 50 prints. Other sizes may be available. These images were produced in 2013 and are rights managed and may not be used without written permission of Peter Iverson.
The images in the Leaf series are part of an ongoing series of photographic 'portraits' of leaves, often utilizing selective and/or soft focus techniques in their production. The images are individually printed on fine art paper at 13 x 19" in a limited edition of 50 prints. Other sizes may be available. These images have been produced between 2011 and 2013 and are rights managed; they may not be reproduced or used without written permission from Peter Iverson.
The Form images are from an ongoing series of photographs of tropical leaves with strongly organic shapes. They are individually printed at 13 x 19" on fine art paper in a limited edition of 50 prints. Other sizes may be available. The Form images were produced during 2013 and are rights managed; no reproduction or use of these images is permitted without written permission from Peter Iverson.
The images in the Veil series are objects from nature which are covered with thin sheets of paper obscuring their native appearance. The images are individually printed at 13 x 19" on fine art paper in a limited edition of 50 prints. Other sizes may be available. These images were produced in 2013 and are rights managed; no reproduction or use of these images is permitted without written permission from Peter Iverson.
